出生於藝術世家，自幼喜愛繪畫，屢次參賽名列前茅。1974年從香港前往英國深造藝術，1978年畢業於Bristol University of Polytechnic (Faculty of Art & Design)。在香港是一名著名的時裝設計師，1981年定居溫哥華，又再從事她的藝術生涯，是一位頗為出色的室內設計家。精於研究，著重線條、顏色及花藝。

Mimi Chi-Fai's interest in painting developed early in her childhood, thanks to her equally artistic family. She later went on to graduate from the Bristol Polytechnic University in England, specifically from the Faculty of Art & Design, in 1978. She started her career in fashion design in Hong Kong, and then immigrated to Vancouver in 1981, where she has continued her career, now in interior as well as fashion design. Her work has been greatly recognized and appreciated.
